PDP Lawmaker Scores Buhari Zero In Human Rights Safety.

Hon. Segun Adekola, the chairman House of Representatives Committee on Youth Development, has scored President Muhammadu Buhari zero in human rights protection, This Day reports. The People Democratic Party lawmaker’s assertion comes on the heels of arrests and detention of many of the party chieftains who served during the last administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking in Ikere Ekiti yesterday, December 28, during an empowerment programme for 500 people in his constituency, Adekola said the alleged selective way Buhari has been prosecuting his anti-corruption war which has seen many PDP chieftains in the former administration arrested and detained, attest to the fact that human rights abuses has evolved in his government. PDP Lawmaker Segun Adekola Scores Buhari Zero In Human Rights Safety He said: “You can see how opposition figures were being arrested-Sambo Dasuki, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Attahiru Bafarawa and many others of the PDP. "Is President Buhari telling Nigerians that no APC ex-governors stole during Jonathan’s time? "So, President Buhari scores zero in human rights protection. For him to show that he is serious with the anti-graft war, he should arrest people like ex-governor Rotimi Amaechi and many other APC chieftains who have cases to answer.” On hand to flag-off of a skill acquisition programme, the lawmaker urged Buhari to diversify the economy and bring Nigeria out of the current economic woes, as he used the opportunity to distribute sewing machine, grinding machine, power generating sets worth millions of naira. According to him, President Buhari needs to declare emergency in agriculture sector. He said: “The president can even bring back programmes like Green Revolution, Operation Feed the Nation and many other agric programmes to bail us out of this economic quagmire and sole dependence on oil as means of survival. “Dunlop and Odutola tyre industries and many others have relocated to Ghana and South Africa because of epileptic power supply. “Buhari must face the issue of electricity supply with practical approach. One cannot imagine the losses we have suffered and millions of employment we have lost through the relocation of these industries. “It was agriculture that Chief Obafemi Awolowo used to develop the South-west region, so we have to go back to it if Buhari is very determined to achieve his focus. “I know federal government is putting up efforts to redirect our economy, but they need to take more practical and feasible steps.” Reactions have continued to trail President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war and just recently Ayo Fayose, the governor of Ekiti state warned Nigerians that dictatorship is returning to the country. Reacting to the sealing-off of Sambo Dasuki’s residence, the governor asked President Muhammadu Buhari to put Boko Haram under house arrest instead of former national security adviser (NSA). It would be recalled that Sambo Dasuki was first detained on July 16, Thursday, by Department of State
Services personnel over allegations of $2.1B arms deal scandal.
